Srinagar, Julu 7: Parts of Kashmir witnessed a noticeable dip in night temperatures, offering residents a much-needed break after days of oppressive heat, according to Kashmir Weather, an independent forecasting service. Forecasts now point to a broader cooling trend, with day temperatures also expected to drop from Tuesday and remain below or near normal through the week.

The change began Monday morning with significantly cooler minimums recorded across the Valley. Srinagar registered a night temperature of 23.5°C—lower than yesterday’s 25.2°C, which had matched the city’s all-time warmest July night set in 1988.

Other major locations also saw relief overnight:

  • Qazigund: 21.4°C, down from 23.1°C

  • Pahalgam: 17.0°C, down from 20.0°C

  • Kokernag: 19.2°C, down from 22.6°C

  • Gulmarg: 15.5°C, down from 16.6°C

  • Kupwara: 21.0°C, down from 21.5°C

Weather experts say this dip marks the start of a short but significant break from the recent hot spell, with high humidity expected to persist through August and September due to continued monsoon activity.

Forecast models indicate high confidence—up to 100% certainty—in the cooling trend, with several days likely to remain below the seasonal average. After three unusually warm Julys in a row (2022, 2024, and now 2025), even a temporary reprieve is being welcomed by residents across the Valley.
