Sonmarg, June 30: To ensure the safety and seamless conduct of the upcoming Amarnath Yatra 2025, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday visited the Baltal Base Camp in Sonmarg and held a high-level security review with senior officials from security forces and civil administration.
News agency KINS reported that during the visit, LG Sinha took stock of ground-level arrangements and chaired detailed discussions to assess the preparedness and coordination between various security and administrative agencies.
Baltal, being one of the two primary routes to the holy Amarnath cave shrine, serves as a crucial transit and base point for thousands of yatris each year.
Top officers from the security forces were present at the review meeting. The discussions revolved around the deployment of security personnel, establishment of medical facilities, installation of surveillance infrastructure, and swift response protocols in case of emergencies.
LG expressed satisfaction over the synergy between the forces and civil administration and directed all stakeholders to maintain high levels of vigilance and coordination throughout the yatra period.
Later, Manoj Sinha while talking to reporters as per news agency KINS said, “After today’s meeting, I can confidently say that this year’s Amarnath Yatra will be better than the past years. The security arrangements are well-planned and coordinated. I hope the pilgrimage is more comfortable for devotees and offers an even better experience,” he said.
This year’s yatra, set to begin on July 3, comes in the backdrop of heightened security concerns following the Phalgam terror incident.
However, the administration has assured that a multi-layered security grid has been established along both the Pahalgam and Baltal routes, supported by aerial surveillance and anti-sabotage checks.(KINS)
