Mother of Asian Mail Editor-in-Chief Rashid Rahil Passes Away in Road Accident, Journalistic Fraternity Expresses Grief

Srinagar:It is with deep sorrow and profound regret that we report the passing of the respected mother of Asian Mail Editor-in-Chief, Mr. Rashid Rahil, who tragically lost her life following a road accident. The incident occurred at Pandach 90 Feet Road, where she was struck by a speeding vehicle, sustaining critical injuries. She was immediately rushed to the Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) in Srinagar, where she remained under treatment overnight. Sadly, she succumbed to her injuries early this morning.

The funeral prayers were held this morning at 9:30 AM at her ancestral residence in Pandach 90 Feet Road, and were attended by a large number of mourners. Among those present were members of civil society, fellow journalists, and prominent community figures, all of whom prayed for the departed soul’s forgiveness and eternal peace.

To honour her memory and seek divine blessings, a Fateha Khwani (prayer gathering) will be held at the family residence on Tuesday, 27th May. The prayers will continue throughout the day and extend over a four-day period.

Members of various sections of society, the journalistic community, and respected citizens have extended heartfelt condolences and solidarity with Rashid Raheel and his family. They expressed their deep sorrow and offered prayers for the departed soul’s elevation in the hereafter, as well as patience and strength for the bereaved family.

May Allah grant the deceased a place in His eternal mercy and bestow patience upon the grieving family. Ameen.
