Dr Farooq Abdullah Sounds Alarm on Rising Drug Abuse Among Youth, Calls for Collective Action to Save Future Generations

Srinagar, Apr 21, KNT: National Conference President and former Chief Minister, Dr Farooq Abdullah, Monday expressed grave concern over the growing drug menace in Jammu and Kashmir, warning that the future of the region’s youth is under serious threat.
Speaking to reporters in Srinagar, Dr Farooq Abdullah said that drug abuse has reached alarming levels, and urgent action is required to safeguard the younger generation. “Drugs have become a serious problem for our children. Our children are getting ruined because of it. All of us should unite and fight against it,” he said, adding that the issue transcends politics and must be treated as a societal emergency.
He lamented the moral decline in society and said that the degradation is visible in many forms, including the increasing dependence of youth on narcotics. “Our society has degraded, and if we don’t act now, we may lose an entire generation,” he warned.
Calling for a united front, Dr Abdullah urged civil society, religious leaders, educational institutions, and political parties to come together and create awareness to curb the growing drug culture. “We can’t afford to sit back. Everyone, regardless of affiliation, must rise to the occasion,” he emphasized. [KNT]
