Sunil Sharma Slams Opposition Over Demand to Discuss Waqf Bill in J&K Assembly

Srinagar: Senior BJP leader and former minister Sunil Sharma on Sunday criticized the National Conference (NC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Congress for demanding a discussion on the Waqf Bill in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly.

Sharma said discussing a bill that has already been passed by Parliament and is currently sub judice is “unconstitutional and illegal.” “Their MPs should have spoken in Parliament when the bill was being debated, but they were busy somewhere else,” Sharma remarked.

“Now they are targeting the Assembly and raising issues which are out of its jurisdiction. It’s nothing but a political gimmick.” He further accused the opposition of attempting to mislead the people of Kashmir by stirring emotions around an issue already settled at the national level. (KNS)
