President, PM pays tributes to Mahatma Gandhi

President Kovind leads the nation in paying homage to Mahatma Gandhi

New Delhi, Jan. 30 (UNI) President Ram Nath Kovind led the nation in paying tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at his samadhi in Raj Ghat on Saturday on the 73rd death anniversary of the Father of the Nation.

Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi also went to Rajghat and offered their floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi whose death anniversary is also observed as Martyrs Day. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also offered his tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat.

“On behalf of a grateful nation, my humble tributes to to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi who embraced martyrdom this day. We should adhere to his ideal of peace,non-violence, simplicity, purity of means and humility. Let us resolve to follow his path of truth and love,’ the President said in a tweet.

President Kovind and other top leaders also attended an all religion prayer at Rajghat. A two-minutes silence was also observed on the occasion.
