Grand Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam Warns Against Fake Religious Preachers Spreading Sectarian Hate

Srinagar : Grand Mufti of Kashmir, Nasir-ul-Islam, has raised serious concerns over the activities of certain individuals posing as religious scholars and preachers on social media.
He stated that some fake Moulvis and religious figures, using fraudulent accounts, are engaged in spreading hate and fueling sectarian divisions, which could potentially disrupt the peace and harmony of the region.
Expressing deep dismay over the misuse of religion for divisive purposes, the Grand Mufti emphasized that such actions go against the core principles of Islam, which advocate unity, compassion, and brotherhood.
He urged people to remain vigilant and not fall prey to misleading narratives propagated by unverified religious figures.
These individuals are not true representatives of Islam.
Their sole agenda is to create discord among different sects and disturb the social fabric of Jammu and Kashmir,” Grand Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam said, calling for strict measures to curb such activities.
He also appealed to law enforcement agencies to take immediate action against those using fake accounts to spread misinformation and incite sectarian violence.
Social media should not be misused to manipulate public sentiments and spread baseless propaganda in the name of religion,” he added.
The Grand Mufti further urged religious scholars and community leaders to work together in fostering unity and discouraging any attempt to sow divisions among people.
He emphasized that peace and communal harmony are essential for the overall progress and stability of Jammu and Kashmir. KNT
