27 Years Rigorous Imprisonment, Among 03 Convictions Secured in Ganderbal: Police

Ganderbal: Police on Monday said that it have secured convictions in 03 different cases against 04 accused persons involved in a Rape Case of PS Kangan, POCSO Case and NDPS Case of P/S Ganderbal.

In a handout to GNS, the police said that in a landmark judgement, conviction was obtained against one accused namely Mohammad Saleem Taploo son of Mohammad Maqbool Taploo resident of Anchar Soura A/P SaidPora, Eidgah Srinagar, for offences under section 363 RPC and Section 4 of POCSO against a minor survivor. The Hon’ble court convicted the accused for both the offences with the quantum of punishment being rigorous imprisonment for a term of 07 years and a fine of Rs 25,000/- for kidnapping which would run separately with a rigorous imprisonment for a term of 20 years and a fine of Rs 50,000 for the offences against POCSO.

According to police spokesman, in the second case, Ganderbal Police secured conviction against Aamir Ashraf Zargar son of Mohammad Ashraf Zargar resident of Waripora Safapora, for offences under sections 363 RPC and 376 RPC. The court sentenced the accused to imprisonment for a term of 07 years and a fine of Rs 10,000/- for kidnapping and concurrently with imprisonment of 07 years and a fine of Rs 25,000/- for the offences of rape.

In the third case, registered under 8/20, 29 NDPS Act, Ganderbal Police secured conviction against two accused persons namely Sahil Ahmad Khan son of Manzoor Ahmad Khan and Rizwan Ahmad Khan son of Ghulam Hassan Khan, both residents of Khan Mohalla Pati Shallbugh Ganderbal. The court sentenced both the accused to imprisonment for a term of 06 months and a fine of Rs.10,000. This conviction has been obtained within 3 months.

These convictions reflect unwavering commitment of J&K Police towards ‘securing the ends of justice’. These convictions will act as a deterrent to the individuals who act against the law of the land and to a sense of security to the society as a whole, reads the statement.(GNS)
