Reasi Police launches crackdown on illegal mining, seizes 2 tractor trolleys

Jammu, Jan 23 (UNI) Police on Saturday launched crackdown on illegal mining mafia and seized two tractor trolleys in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Police here said that acting tough against illegal mining, Arnas Police started a crackdown against sand mafia engaged in illegal mining in the jurisdiction of police station Arnas.

“Late on Friday night, police team from Arnas raided various locations of river side and caught red handed two tractor trolleys,” police spokesman added.

He said that the SHO informed DMO Reasi for further necessary action in this regard who will penalise the violators.

It is pertinent to mention here that mining of minor minerals is banned from last 11 months but this mafia is extracting and stealing minerals illegally causing a great loss to the national exchequer.

The operation was conducted by SHO Police station Arnas Inspector Sanjay Raina under the supervision of SDPO Arnas Dr. Satish Bhardwaj and overall supervision of Additional SP Reasi Surjeet Bhagat and SSP Reasi, Rashmi Wazir.
