Casual Labourers Protest in Srinagar, Demand Regularization and Timely Salaries

Srinagar: Casual labourers from various government departments staged protests across Srinagar on Monday, demanding job regularization and timely salaries. The demonstrators, who initially attempted to gather at Press Enclave, were stopped by the police, prompting them to regroup and stage protests at multiple locations in Lal Chowk.
Raising slogans in support of their demands, the labourers expressed frustration over prolonged job insecurity and irregular wages. They accused the government of neglecting their plight despite repeated appeals.
Police swiftly intervened, detaining several protesters and bundling them into vehicles to disperse the demonstrations. However, a police official later confirmed that all detainees were released after a brief detention.
The labourers have vowed to continue their agitation until their demands are met, urging the government to take immediate action on their longstanding issues. [KNT]
