DC Srinagar reviews progress on establishment of District Export Hub

Asks officers to undertake requisite measures for setting up Art Gallery & Display Stalls, development of Website etc

Srinagar: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat today chaired a comprehensive meeting at DC Office here to review the progress on ‘District Export Hub’ under the ODOP- DEH initiative being established at Kashmir Haat.

The District Export Hub is coming up with an aim to boost the export of goods from Srinagar District with adequate market linkage to the industry, provide guidance regarding exports, consultancy, etc under one roof.

At the outset, DC held an extensive discussion with all the stakeholders present in the meeting in order to ensure that the District Export Hub is operationalized with the vision to enable holistic socio-economic growth of the local Artisans and Exporters, besides institutionalizing the Export Ecosystem in the District.

The DC said the objectives of the initiative is to give a fillip to the export volume and to boost the local economy, particularly focusing on promoting specific products or industries within the District that have good export potential, thereby likely enhance production, improve quality, and facilitate marketing and export of these products with adequate market linkage.

During the meeting, DC instructed the concerned Officers to take up necessary measures for setting up of Art Gallery & Display Stalls, development of Website, Staff for gallery and other requisite provision for making District Export Hub functional in effective manner.

The DC also called for engaging all stakeholders and artisans in the process to enhance exports and the market linkage.

General Manager, DIC, Chief Planning Officer, Deputy Director Handicrafts, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Chief Horticulture Officer, Lead District Manager and other concerned were present in the meeting, while other stakeholders associated with different trades also attended the meeting.
