The notion that Kashmiris didn’t support the BJP in voting is inaccurate

We don’t believe in divisive politics; Our focus is  “Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas,”: Dr Abhijeet Jasrotia

Rashid Rahil (Editor-In Chief) with Dr Abhijeet Jasrotia

Jammu : Senior BJP leader and party spokesperson, Dr. Abhijeet Jasrotia, said that the party respects the mandate given by the people of Jammu and Kashmir during the recent assembly elections. He also clarified that the notion that Kashmiri people did not vote for the BJP is inaccurate. In fact, the BJP stood second in many seats in the Kashmir Valley, and received one and a half lakh more votes than the National Conference.

In an exclusive conversation with Asian Mail Editor-in-Chief Rashid Rahil, Dr. Abhijeet Jasrotia stated that the BJP has emerged as the largest party in the recent assembly elections. However, the party was unable to form the government. Jasrotia attributed this to the narrative of “Jammu vs. Kashmir, Hindu-Muslim, and Dogra vs. Kashmiri” created by the National Conference, which has been in power for the last 50 years.

Jasrotia emphasized that the BJP is not sectarian, contrary to accusations made by others. He pointed out that the National Conference has created a narrative that has led to the party’s mandate. He also highlighted the need to correct the mistake of allocating more assembly seats to the Kashmir Valley in 1947, which was based on population. He emphasied that Jammu should have more seats.

When asked about the BJP’s performance in the Kashmir Valley, Jasrotia said that the party received significant support from the people. He attributed this to the party’s slogan “Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas,” which resonated with the people. He also emphasized that the future of Jammu and Kashmir depends on the people’s decision to choose between an “inhabited graveyard” and a prosperous state.

Regarding development in Jammu and Kashmir, Dr Abhijeet said that the BJP has worked towards equal development in both regions. He cited examples such as the establishment of AIIMS and IIT in both Jammu and Kashmir. Jasrotia also emphasized that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s central government does not believe in caste, creed, colour and religion but wants to restore Kashmir based on religious tolerance, Kashmiriyat and Insaniyat.

On the issue of statehood for Jammu and Kashmir, Jasrotia said that the Prime Minister and Home Minister have announced that the promise will be fulfilled. However, he emphasised  that the National Conference government should fulfill its promises, including the provision of 200 units of free electricity.

He  also attributed the settlement of graveyards in Kashmir to the rigging of elections in 1987. Dr Abhijeet claimed that if the rigging had not occurred, the map of Kashmir would have changed today. Jasrotia emphasized that BJP has opened doors for every person who loves the country. He also claimed that the BJP will form its government with a majority in the future and provide opportunities to party workers who have raised the tricolor and party flag.
