NC MLA Salman Sagar Criticizes MP’s Participation in Protest Outside CM Omar Abdullah’s Residence

“No One is Bigger Than the Party, Not Even Ruhullah Sahib”

“Who are you sitting with? With our enemies, who look for opportunities to turn our good work into a disadvantage”

Srinagar : National Conference (NC) MLA Salman Sagar expressed concerns over the involvement of a party MP in a protest against the reservation policy held outside Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s residence. In a statement, Sagar emphasized that while individuals may act on their own, no one, including senior figures like Ruhullah Sahib, is above the party.

“Ruhullah Sahib is a big man with a significant mandate, having been an MLA and MP multiple times, but he is connected to the party and cannot be bigger than the party. No MLA, minister, or even the Chief Minister is bigger than the party,” Sagar told KNS in an exclusive chat.
He highlighted that such actions should align with party discipline and principles.

He expressed that associating with adversaries, who are eager to counter and undermine the party’s efforts, is a mistake. “Who are you sitting with? With our enemies, who look for opportunities to turn our good work into a disadvantage,” he noted, adding that these elements had already been rejected by the public.

Sagar further remarked that yesterday’s incident might have harmed Ruhullah Sahib’s image rather than benefiting it. “The political color given to the event has made his position awkward and possibly led to a loss instead of a gain,” he said.

Reaffirming NC’s commitment to addressing student concerns, Sagar stated, “Students should be heard and engaged fairly. We will welcome them, give them tea and water, and discuss their issues as much as we can. But there shouldn’t be politics in protest.”

He pointed out the influence of external forces, saying, “If you come by plane, call from London, or sponsor protests from a distance, and then stand with people who oppose us ideologically and celebrate, it raises questions. Who is supporting and decorating the agenda of our enemies?”

Sagar reiterated that party discipline and unity are paramount. “The party is supreme, and work should be done within party discipline. There are many ways to lead and resolve issues, but it must be within the bounds of party principles,” he emphasized.
