No question of any compromise on our manifesto: Dr Farooq Abdullah

Says NC committed to fulfill every promise, glad to see Mirwaiz talking about peace in J&K

Srinagar: Amid growing criticism from the opposition PDP and Peoples Conference led by Sajad Lone over allegedly dragging its feet on the restoration of Article 370, National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah Tuesday said that there was no question of any sort of compromise on the party’s manifesto which is very much before people.

Talking to a select group of reporters in Srinagar as per news agency KINS, Dr Farooq said that the opposition job is to do opposition and let them do it. “There is no question of budging even an inch as far as our party manifesto is concerned,” the NC president said, adding that “the party document is before people. We will fulfil every point mentioned in our document.”

Replying to a query about Kashmir’s head cleric Mirwaiz Umar Farooq advocating dialogue for peace in J&K he was glad to see Mirwaiz free and moving around in the city. “I am happy to see him talking about peace in J&K. We all have to work towards establishing peace in J&K,” he said.

Dr Farooq’s statement comes at a time when parties like PDP and Peoples Conference are criticising NC on the pretext that the party has entered into a compromise over Article 370 restoration and that the resolution on the same passed in the Legislative Assembly recently was ambiguous.

Earlier, soon after attending the party meeting in Srinagar, PDP MLA Waheed ur Rehman Parra while taking a jibe at Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that visiting Delhi and meeting ministers won’t resolve peoples’ issue and that it was a sort of diversion from the basic issues of Article 370 and Article 35 A—(KINS).
