‘Want to work in close coordination with the Centre: Nasir Aslam Wani

Srinagar: Nasir Aslam Wani, advisor to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Thursday said that the Jammu and Kashmir government is working closely with the central government, citing the need for support in addressing the region’s numerous challenges.
Wani said that collaboration with the central government is standard practice for all state governments. “We have to work with the Centre Government and we will as we have been facing numerous issues here,” he said.
He said that the Jammu and Kashmir government is optimistic about restoring statehood, as promised by the Prime Minister and Home Minister.
“Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is currently overseeing civil administration, while the Lieutenant Governor manages law and order. This dual system is detrimental to the region’s well-being,” he said.
Regarding the timeline for statehood restoration, Wani deemed it premature to speculate. “The Jammu and Kashmir Cabinet has already passed a resolution urging the Centre to restore statehood. The LG has approved it and we are sure that we will get out state back,” he said. [KNT]
