BJP to ‘elect legislature party leader in Sgr tomorrow’

‘Union Minister Prahlad Joshi, National General Tarun Chugh to oversee proceedings’

Srinagar: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is likely to convene a meeting of its Jammu and Kashmir legislators in Srinagar on November 3 tomorrow to elect the Leader of its Legislature Party.

Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Prahlad Joshi, along with Tarun Chugh, BJP’s national general secretary and in-charge for Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh, have been appointed by the party high command to oversee the election process as national observers.

News agency KINS reported that in the upcoming meeting, 28 BJP MLAs will participate in the decision to elect both the Leader and Deputy Leader of the Legislature Party.

Originally holding 29 seats, the BJP’s strength in the region has shifted to 28 following the sudden demise of Devender Rana, the MLA from Nagrota. (KINS)
