Budgam: Police have arrested a drug peddler in Budgam and recovered contraband substances.Police Station Charar-e-Sharief received information through reliable source that one person namely Khurshid Ahmad Ganie son of Abdullah Ganie resident of Bunhar Charawani has illegally dumped dried poppy straw and crushed cannabis in his residential house. Acting swiftly, police party conducted a search of the said house along with Naib Tehsildar Charar-e-Sharief. During search 6Kgs of poppy straw, 5Kgs of dried cannabis like substance and 1Kg of semi dried cannabis leaves was recovered and seized on spot. The accused was arrested on the spot and has been shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Subsequently, a case vide FIR No. 100/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Charar e Sharief & further investigation has been taken up.
Police urge the common masses that if you witness drug peddling or any other crime anywhere near you, feel free to contact nearest police establishment or dial 112. People are requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society.
