Fire Breaks Out in bus ferrying Vaishno Devi Pilgrims on Katra-Jammu route, all passengers safe

Srinagar: In a startling turn of events, a bus transporting 38 pilgrims from the revered Vaishno Devi shrine encountered a fire on the Katra-Jammu road, near Bayin Nala. Thanks to swift actions, all passengers made it out unharmed.
The fire erupted unexpectedly as the bus was making its way through the busy route. The driver’s prompt response, pulling over immediately, allowed for a quick evacuation before the flames spread.
“Suddenly, smoke began rising from the rear of the bus, and within moments, flames were visible,” shared a relieved passenger. “Panic set in, but the driver’s quick thinking saved us all. He got everyone off safely, and we’re grateful that no one was hurt.”
Eyewitnesses on the scene described the initial chaos as people scrambled to exit, but praised the coordinated efforts that ensured no injuries were sustained.
Local fire services responded swiftly, bringing the blaze under control. While initial reports hint at a possible mechanical malfunction, investigations are ongoing to pinpoint the cause.
Authorities have vowed to tighten safety inspections on buses, especially on routes as frequented as the Katra-Jammu road. A local official stated, “We’re reviewing safety procedures to ensure all buses undergo regular checks to avoid future incidents.”
Despite the ordeal, pilgrims were able to continue their journey after alternative arrangements were made.(News Vibes Of India)
