Er Rashid Knew About Article 370 Rollback in 2018 But Stayed Silent, Says Omar Abdullah

Kupwara: Omar Abdullah, vice president of the National Conference, accused Engineer Rashid, chief of the Awami Ittehad Party, of knowing about the rollback of Article 370 in 2018 but remaining silent until 2019.

Speaking at a rally in Sogam, Kupwara, he stated that had Rashid spoken up sooner, the National Conference could have sought a Supreme Court stay on the Centre’s plans

Abdullah criticized Rashid’s silence, saying it had detrimental consequences for Jammu and Kashmir, leading to the loss of Article 370, 35A, and various rights concerning land and jobs.

He emphasized that ownership of land and resources has shifted from the people of Jammu and Kashmir to the broader population of India.

He compared the current state of Jammu and Kashmir to 2014, highlighting the transition from a state to a Union Territory and the loss of the regional flag. Abdullah also criticized the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for forming an alliance with the BJP despite campaigning against them in 2014.

He urged voters to be cautious in the ongoing elections, warning that mistakes could have long-lasting effects.

Abdullah also responded to BJP J&K chief Ravinder Raina’s comments about a Hindu Chief Minister, suggesting that Raina should focus on winning his own seat first.
