Weather Clears in Kashmir, Farmers Urged to Resume Harvesting

Srinagar: Following a brief snowfall in Kashmir Valley, the weather is gradually improving, prompting authorities to advise farmers to resume harvesting and fieldwork. A Met department official forecasted a dry spell from September 29 to October 6.

For September 28, the official predicted a mostly dry day with possible light afternoon rains. Farmers have been encouraged to utilize this window to tend to their fields and threshing floors.

Despite recent adverse weather, the Valley recorded above-normal night temperatures, except in Gulmarg. Key temperature readings include Srinagar at 13.8°C, 4.0°C above normal, while Gulmarg recorded 6.8°C, 0.1°C below normal.

Other notable temperature readings were Pahalgam at 9.7°C, 4.1°C above normal, Kupwara at 13.0°C, 4.1°C above normal, and Qazigund at 10.8°C, 2.5°C above normal.

With favorable weather conditions expected to persist, farmers are urged to capitalize on this opportunity.
