Renowned Kashmiri poet’s book ‘Moirfat Salam’ released amidst fanfare

Pulwama: A significant literary event was held at Frestabal Pampore in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district, where the book “Moirfat Salam (Koshur Shaar Sombran)” written by revered poet and Sufi saint Fakir Abdul Salam Mir (Pampori) was released.

The event was organized by the Nigeeni Cultural Foundation in collaboration with the Policy and Research Institute (PARI) and saw the participation of several eminent writers, journalists, and poets.

The Guest of Honour, Abdul Ahad Farhad, a renowned broadcaster and writer, released the book amidst a gathering of esteemed personalities, including Editor-in-Chief Rashid Rahil (Daily Asian Mail and Farooq Wani Editor-In-Chief(Daily Brighter Kashmir), as well as Mirza Bashir Shakir, Habib Nasir, and Zahoor Ahmed.

The speakers extolled Fakir Abdul Salam Mir as a paragon of Kashmiri culture, commending his remarkable contributions to the advancement of Kashmir’s artistic and literary heritage. They highlighted the enduring importance of Sufism in Kashmir, emphasizing its storied past and the instrumental role of Sufi saints in shaping the region’s cultural identity.

Abdul Ahad Farhad lauded Fakir Abdul Salam Mir’s contributions, noting that his work has made a significant impact in showcasing and promoting Kashmiri culture.

Rashid Rahil, Editor-in-Chief of Daily Asian Mail, moderated the event, praising the contributions of poets, writers, and Sufis.

Mirza Bashir Shakir described the book as a “treasure”, while Farooq Wani expressed his dismay at the neglect of the Kashmiri language, simultaneously applauding the author’s endeavors to write the book in Kashmiri, thereby preserving the linguistic heritage.

The event emphasized the need to safeguard and promote Kashmiri literature and culture, with “Moirfat Salam” being acclaimed as a significant addition to the region’s esteemed literary heritage.
