PC promises rehabilitation of orphans & widows of Kashmir conflict

In manifesto, party talks about dignified life for former militants

Srinagar: In its manifesto, Peoples Conference on Thursday promised a rehabilitation policy for orphans and widows of Kashmir conflict.

In its manifesto, the party said that it would come up with a policy for rehabilitation of victims of the conflict in Kashmir.

“The wounds of militancy remain unaddressed and unhealed, leaving many to grapple with the loss of livelihoods and opportunities of self-sufficiency. Decades of turmoil have created deep socio-economic fissures. JKPC has experienced first-hand these struggles, therefore we propose a rehabilitation policy for orphans and widows of Kashmir, specifically tailored for their integration into society,” reads the manifesto released by the party, as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).

The policy said that a systematic approach would be devised for integrating former militants into society while ensuring they can live a dignified life free from past burdens.

“The former combatants in Kashmir continue to face arrests, harassment during VIP visits or on specific occasions such as August 15th or January 26th,” the manifesto states—(KNO)
