Protesters block Sopore-Sumbal road, demand robust search operation to rescue drowned kid

Srinagar: The residents of Gundjhangeer Hajin in north Kashmir’s Bandipora on Tuesday morning blocked the Sopore-Sumbal road, bringing traffic to a standstill.

The protesters, including both men and women, demanded immediate action from the district administration regarding the retrieval of the body of Sahil Rasheed, a minor boy who drowned two days ago in Nallah Firozpora at Haritara Sopore on Sunday, news agency KB reported.

Two days have passed, yet no serious efforts have been initiated to recover the body of the child, Majid said.

He added, “We only demand that the district administration deploy SDRF teams to trace and recover the body. This delay is causing us more grief.”

Although the traffic has been restored, the protestors continue their demand of enhancing the search and rescue operation for the drowned child.
