India Celebrates First National Space Day: PM Modi and Amit Shah Extend Greetings

New Delhi: Today, India marks a historic milestone with the first National Space Day, commemorating the successful soft landing of Chandrayaan-3 on the moon’s surface on August 23, 2023. This achievement made India the fourth country to accomplish this feat and the first to land on the lunar South Pole.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared August 23 as National Space Day to recognize this achievement. In a message on X, PM Modi said, “Greetings on the first National Space Day. We take pride in our nation’s achievements in the space sector and acknowledge the contributions of our space scientists. Our government has made futuristic decisions in this sector, and we will do more in the times to come.”

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also extended his wishes to the scientists involved in the Chandrayaan mission. “On National Space Day, I congratulate the brilliant minds who proved India’s dominance in space through the successful touchdown on the Moon’s South Pole,” he said on X.

Other Union Ministers, including Hardeep Singh Puri and Nitin Gadkari, also expressed their joy and gratitude towards PM Modi for India’s space achievements. The theme for National Space Day 2024 is “Touching Lives While Touching the Moon: India’s Space Saga,” celebrating the impact of space exploration on our lives.
