Heavy Rainfall Hits Jammu and Kashmir, More Predicted

Srinagar: A prolonged dry spell in Jammu and Kashmir ended with heavy rain lashing parts of the Union Territory on Saturday morning. The Srinagar Meteorological Centre predicts intense rainfall in some areas, with a possibility of heavy rain in parts of the Jammu division on August 19 and 20. The Centre warns of potential flash floods, cloud bursts, landslides, shooting stones, and mudslides in vulnerable areas on these days.

Following the rainfall, temperature highs were recorded as follows: Srinagar (21°C), Gulmarg (15.4°C), Jammu (28°C), Pahalgam (17.9°C), Banihal (20.6°C), Katra (25°C), and Kupwara (21°C). According to the Srinagar Meteorological Centre, heavy rain started at 5 am on Saturday, causing rapid flooding in some areas, such as gardens becoming waterlogged in a short time.
