Boy hospitalised after being bitten by snake in Srinagar

Srinagar: In a rare and alarming incident, a young boy was hospitalized after being bitten by a snake in his leg in the Kursu area of Srinagar’s uptown. The incident occurred in the late evening hours on Wednesday, sending shockwaves among locals.
Local sources told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that the 14-year-old boy identified as Aaman Nawaz was busy taking out his father’s lunch box from the car and he suddenly cried out in pain. His family rushed him to the nearest hospital, where doctors confirmed the snake bite.
“The boy was bitten on his leg, and doctors immediately administered anti-venom. He is currently under observation and stable,” one of the relatives of the victim said.
Snake bites are rare in Kashmir, especially in urban areas like Srinagar.
Pertinently, Kursu locality is on the banks of river Jhelum which has witnessed a considerable decrease in water level due to long dry spells.
