Jammu: A narco smuggler was arrested in Jammu’s Udhampur district after recovering 60 kg contraband substance from his possession, said police on Monday.
In a statement a police spokesperson said, “Police team from Police Post Roundomail led by SHO PS Udhampur Insp. Raghubir Singh and assisted by IC PP Roundomail PSI Mohd. Shafique while performing vehicle checking at naka point Roundomail, stopped one vehicle (tata mobile) bearing registration number PB08FD 4276 for checking purposes.”
During the checking of said vehicle, four gunny bags having approximately 60 kg of poppy straw like substance was recovered from the possession of the driver of the vehicle namely Rakesh Kumar son of Kimti Lal, resident of Greater Kailash, Maqsudan Jaladhar, the police spokesperson said, adding that the narco smuggler was arrested on the spot.
“On this, a case vide FIR No. 324/2024 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act stands registered in Police Station Udhampur and further investigation was set into the probe,” he added.
