Another Batch of Pilgrims Embarks on Amarnath Yatra

Asian Mail

Srinagar: A new batch of pilgrims departed from the Pantha Chowk Base Camp on Thursday, embarking on their journey to the holy Amarnath cave.

Amidst tight security, the pilgrims set off with enthusiasm towards the Baltal and Pahalgam base camps, eager to seek blessings at the revered shrine.

The Amarnath Yatra, organized by the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, offers two routes: Pahalgam and Baltal. Baltal serves as the camping ground for pilgrims in the Ganderbal district.

To ensure the safety and smooth movement of pilgrims and commuters during the Yatra, the Jammu and Kashmir Traffic Police issued an advisory on July 6 for National Highway 44, outlining cut-off timings and instructions for convoys and non-convoy traffic.

Yesterday the Inspector General of Police of Kashmir, VK Birdi, held a security meeting at the Nunwan Base Camp to coordinate efforts for a safe and secure Yatra.

The Yatra, which began on June 29, will conclude on August 19, spanning 52 days.
