Amarnath Yatra: More than 2 Lakh pilgrims visit cave in ten days

Jammu: As the Yatra continues with enthusiasm, another convoy of nearly 5,500 pilgrims left for Kashmir from Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu on Tuesday morning amid tight security.

According to sources, during the first ten days of the pilgrimage, more than 2 lakh pilgrims have visited the Amarnath Cave at an altitude of 3,880 kilometers in Kashmir.

Official sources said that 5,433 pilgrims left for Kashmir in 213 vehicles from Bhagwati Nagar base camp on Tuesday morning amid tight security.

He said that 1 thousand 971 pilgrims, including 1 thousand 412 men, 546 women, 1 child, 11 Basadhus and 1 Sadhvi, left for Baltal Base Camp in 79 vehicles while 3 1,462 pilgrims, including 2,791 men, 571 women, 17 children, 72 sadhus and 11 women, left for Nanun Pahalgam base camp in 124 vehicles.

While the best arrangements have been made to provide all the facilities and services to the pilgrims, the security has also been ensured.

According to police sources, around 800 CCTV cameras have been installed on the pilgrimage routes. Besides, 500 additional companies of security forces have been deployed. Each company consists of at least one hundred personnel.

The 52-day Yatra will conclude on August 19 on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan.
