Jammu: A fresh caravan of more than 6,500 pilgrims left for Kashmir on Tuesday morning amid tight security from Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu.

One hundred and thirty-seven pilgrims left for Baltal and Pahalgam base camps in two hundred and sixty-one vehicles.
He said that out of these pilgrims, four thousand four hundred and thirty-one pilgrims went to Pahalgam while two thousand one hundred and six pilgrims left for Baltal base camp. He said that a total of 26,101 pilgrims left for Kashmir from Bhuti Nagar base camp so far. Meanwhile the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, sent the first batch of 4,603 pilgrims to Kashmir from Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu, making the start of the 52-day long pilgrimage to the Shrine at a height of about 13000 feet in the South kashmir himalayas. The administration, and other civil society members including locals warmly welcomed the pilgrims.
All arrangements have been made to ensure the safety of the pilgrims. Around 800 CCTV cameras have been installed on the pilgrimage routes. Besides, 500 additional companies of security forces have been deployed.
