Militant Associate Held in Sopore, Says Police

Sopore: Jammu and Kashmir Police alongwith security forces arrested a militant associate in Sopore area of Baramulla district and recovered incriminating IED materials, arms and ammunition.

“At about 1940 hours, Sopore Police alongwith Army (22RR) and CRPF (179Bn) established a joint naka at Machipora, Bomai. During checking, a vehicle (white coloured Maruti swift) bearing registration No. JK01AK-4452 coming from Bomai towards Machipora was intercepted,” a police spokesperson said, adding that the driver of the vehicle tried to flee from the spot but the alert party apprehended him.

“He has been identified as Waheed ul Zahoor son of Zahoor ul Rahim resident of Hadipora, Rafiabad A/P Mustafabad HMT Srinagar,” he said.

“During search, 02 Turkish Pistols, 03 Turkish Pistol Magazine, 41 Pistol Rounds, 02 Chinese Grenades, 01 Turkish Pistol Silencer, Incriminating IED materials and other material was recovered from the vehicle,” the police said.

“In this regard, a case FIR No 37/2024 U/S 16, 18, 23 38 UAP(A) 3, 4, 5 Explosive  Substances Act , 7/25 Arms Act stands registered in Police Station Bomai and further investigation is in progress,” the police added. (KNS)
