Srinagar: Ahead of Eid-ul-Adha, the markets in Srinagar were bustling with a huge rush as people prepared for the festival. Many were busy purchasing food items and clothes, with prices soaring for essential items. The crowds were particularly noticeable in front of bakeries, clothing stores, and meat sellers.

Mrs. Fatima, a shopper, expressed her frustration, saying, “The prices have almost doubled compared to last year. It’s becoming increasingly difficult to afford the essentials for Eid celebrations.”

Reports from other districts in the valley also indicate a surge in market activity as people engage in Eid shopping. However, customers expressed concerns about price gouging by vendors, alleging that mutton, chicken, fruit, and bakery prices were being arbitrarily increased.
