Sensex drops over 400 points

Mumbai: The equity market remained negative for the third straight session on Tuesday as the BSE Sensex plunged 413.46 pts below 73K at 72986.32 till noon trade as heavy selling was seen in IT, Bankex, and technology stocks.

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) slipped 106.35 points to 22,166.15.

The NSE registered days high and low at 22,213.75 and 22,103.85 points, respectively.

The equity market continued to slide due to heavy selling in IT, Bankex, and technology stocks.

The Sensex registered intraday highs and lows at 73135.43 and 72,814.15 points, respectively.

However, the midcap rose by 0.34 pc and the small cap by 0.82 pc.

In 30 scrips, 8 advanced, while 22 declined.

The losers were Infosys by 2.42 pc to Rs 1432.80, Bajaj Finserv by 2.22 pc to Rs 1620.45, IndusInd Bank by 2.21 pc to Rs 1504.25 and Bajaj Finance by 1.63 pc to Rs 6959.40.

The gainers were Titan by 0.88 pc to Rs 3633.30, Nestle India Ltd by 0.61 pc to Rs 2567.50, Hind Unilever by 0.60 pc to Rs 2207.75 and M&M by 0.48 pc to Rs 2060.
