Jammu violence: Over 5000 Kashmiris shifted to Muslim dominated Bhatindi

Locals as well as police have shifted over 5000 Kashmiris from different parts of Jammu to a mosque at Muslim majority Bhatindi area on Saturday.

Reports said that over 5000 Kashmiris including women and children have taken refuge at Makah Masjid Iqbal Market at Bhatindi.

Sources informed that some locals from Jammu assisted by police visited different hotels and rented accommodations to move Kashmiris to safer place.

“Yes, over 5000 people from different places of Jammu were evacuated and now they are feeling safe at Bhatindi. The Makah Masjid is spacious and every facility is there,” said a local.
He added that Rs 7 lakh were donated by a Bakarwal to Masjid Baitul Maal for these Kashmiri people. “All the people from Kashmir here are safe. Their families back in Kashmir need not to worry,” said a local from Bhatindi.

A local who is managing a langar set up for Kashmiris in Bhatindi said that at least 3000 Kashmiris are being served in the area.

Jammu was marred by violence following the attack on CRPF in Lethpora Kashmir that claimed 49 lives. Miscreants pelted stones and set ablaze vehicles amid curfew on Friday.
