Sensex up over 200 points

Mumbai: The BSE Sensex on Thursday rallied 256 points to 72561.67 in the opening session as buying was seen in metal, bankex, and consumer durable stocks.

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) fell 17 points to 21934.70.

The Sensex registered intraday highs and lows at 72613.32 and 72188.44 points, respectively.

The Nifty registered intraday highs and lows at 22022.40 and 21887.10 points, respectively.

The Mid Cap eased 0.39 pc and the Small Cap by 0.44 pc.

In 30 scrips, 13 advanced, while 17 declined.

The gainers were Reliance Industries by 1.32 pc to Rs 2947.35, Maruti Suzuki by 1.26 pc to Rs 11290.65, M&M by 1.21 pc to Rs 1923.95, and Titan by 1.12 pc to Rs 3632.80.

The losers were Axis Bank by 0.88 pc to Rs 1065, Hind Unilever by 0.82 pc to Rs 1065.85, and Sun Pharma by 0.48 pc to Rs 1565.65.
