Project Sampark: BRO personnel clear snow in J&K's Doda, Kishtwar

Jammu: With an aim to ensure connectivity and safety of the residents, the Border Road Organisation (BRO) under Project Sampark carried out snow clearance operation in Doda and Kishtwar districts of Jammu and Kashmir.

A Defence spokesman said Project Sampark of BRO sprung into action by deploying all the machineries, resources and manpower to undertake the critical task of snow clearance and provide safe passage to the commuters.

Doda and Kishtwar area have witnessed a heavy snowfall along with rainfall in recent times. This has resulted in many far flung villages being cut off due to snow accumulation and Avalanches, which causes heavy landslides and creates high risks to road commuters.

“Advanced machinaries and equipment have been deployed to clear any avalanche and landslides occuring in the Kishtwar region. Timely snow clearance and road connectivity is ensured to assist the resident population in this adverse climatic condition,” he said.

The spokesman added that the BRO has roped in additional resources in the sector to providing 24×7 connectivity and safe passage to the residents and road users.

The snow clearance activities was taken even during night time to rescue the tourists and inhabitants stuck in the higher reaches due to snow and landslides, he added.

It has been of utmost importance for BRO to ensure that entire road stretches are kept open to handle any unforeseen situation in a time bound manner, he said.
