Complete project works at critical junctions for optimization of traffic mobility: Div Com to SSCL

Srinagar: The Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri today convened a meeting  of officers to explore ways for ensuring continuous traffic mobility at critical junctions to avoid time consuming Traffic Jams at Jehangir Chowk, Batamaloo, Sangar Mall and Ram Munshi Bagh Srinagar.

The meeting was attended by CEO, Srinagar Smart City Limited; Dr Owais Ahmad; Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Dr Bilal Mohi ud Din Bhat; SSP Traffic Srinagar; Chief Engineer SSCL; SE, PWD (R&B) and other officers.

The meeting held threadbare discussion for reducing the traffic jam at Jehangir Chowk by optimizing traffic mobility at the junction.

The meeting also held discussion to remove the encroachment on the road by three wheelers at road curvatures and measures to address the same issue.

Addressing the meeting, Div Com directed the concerned to complete the beautification and developmental work at Jehangir Chowk. He also instructed for usage of traffic signals at round-abouts for pedestrian crossings.

He also directed the concerned executing department to expedite the work at Batamaloo, besides he instructed usage of bollard barriers for traffic diversion at Batamaloo Junction.

Similarly, regarding Sanger Mall, Div Com issued the direction for free-left movement of vehicles and widening of narrow corner sides.

Moreover, the meeting discussed operation of Intelligent Multimodal Traffic Surveillance (IMTS) cameras, traffic lights at Maisuma, width of road at U-Turn points and other developmental projects.
