Two-Day Workshop on UAPA Concludes at DPL Awantipora

Awantipora: Two-day workshop organised by police in collaboration with the Prosecution Department on Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act UA(P)A concluded at District Police Lines (DPL) Awantipora on Wednesday.

As per the news agency CNS, a police spokesperson in a statement said that the two-day workshop was organised on investigation-related procedure and technicalities in UA(P) Act.

The workshop – attended by all SDPOs, SHOs, I/C PPs and other investigating officers of District Police Awantipora – was inaugurated by SSP Awantipora Ajaz Ahmed Zargar. The main speakers in this workshop were Danish Gull (Asstt. Public Prosecutor JMIC Court Pulwama), Waseem Ahmad Shah ( Asstt. Public Prosecutor JMIC Court Tral), he said.

“The main objective of the workshop was to enhance the investigative skills and to achieve higher conviction rates in UAPA act cases. The workshop was organised to refine the investigative skills of investigating officers and to update their knowledge with latest techniques and standard operating procedure to be adopted during investigation of cases registered under UAPA Act,” said the police spokesperson in the statement.

On this occasion, SSP Awantipora stressed upon the officers that quality disposal of crime is more important than quantitative disposal. “The investigating officers must be acquainted with the law and legal procedure involved in the investigation of heinous crime. He also stressed upon investigating officers to reinvent themselves with the changing times and techniques,” the statement added.

At the end of the workshop, mementos were presented as a token of gratitude to guest speakers.
