Rs 59364 crore interim budget for J&K presented in Parliament

UT’s total budget estimates for 2024-25 are expected to be Rs 1.18 lakh crore

Srinagar: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday unveiled a Rs 59, 364 crore interim budget for the Jammu & Kashmir Union Territory, while the budget estimates for the next fiscal are expected at Rs 1,18,728 crore.

The budget documents available with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer, reveal that the total receipts in respect of the proposed “Vote on Account” for 2024-25 are estimated at Rs 59,364 crore, excluding the provision for ways and means advances of Rs 16,568 crore.

These receipts in respect of the proposed “Vote on Account” for 2024-25 include Rs. 48,930 crore as revenue receipts and Rs. 10,434 crore as capital receipts.
According to the documents, the total gross receipts in respect of the proposed “Vote on Account” for 2024-25 are estimated at Rs 75,932 crore, including the provision for ways and means advances of Rs 16,568 crore.

The Parliament’s approval has been sought only for Rs 75,932 crore, including the provision for ways and means advances of Rs 16,568 crore.

The UT’s full budget will be presented once the new government is elected in the 2024 general elections.

According to documents in possession of the news agency—(KNO), the total budget estimates for the fiscal 2024-25 are Rs 1,18,728 crore, excluding the provision for ways and means advances.

The revenue expenditure is estimated to be Rs. 80,162 crore and the capital expenditure is Rs. 38,566 crore.
