Sensex on top, up over 300 points

Mumbai: The BSE Sensex continued to climb as it spurted 378 points at 71,715.05, a new high as buying was seen across the board in the opening session on Wednesday.

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) rose 121.05 points to 21,562.40.

The Sensex registered intraday highs and lows at 71,728.78 and 71,473.65 points, respectively.

The Nifty recorded intraday highs and lows at 21,562.65 and 21,495.80 points, respectively.

The Mid Cap moved up 0.65 and the Small Cap by 0.66 pc.

In 30 scrips, 26 advanced while 4 declined.

The gainers were Ultracemco by 2.95 pc to Rs 10,316.20, JSW Steel by 2.45 pc to Rs 872.30, Bajaj Finance by 1.84 pc to Rs 7294.95, L&T by 1.49 pc to Rs 3541.30, and Bajaj Finserv by 1.48 pc to Rs 1667.15.

The losers were Asian Paints by 0.48 pc to Rs 3366.85, Maruti Suzuki by 0.33 pc to Rs 10,329, and Titan by 0.20 pc to Rs 3648.
