Thousands attend Friday prayers at Dastgeer Sahab on the concluding day of annual Urs in Kashmir

Srinagar: Thousands of devotees assembled at the shrine of famous Sufi saint Hazrat Sheikh Syed Abdul Qadir Jeelani (RA), popularly known as “Peer Dastageer Sahab” at Khanyar to offer the concluding Friday prayers on the occasion of annual Urs.

People including men, women and children thronged the holy shrine of “Peer Dastgeer Sahab ‘ at Khanyar in down town Srinagar from all walks of life to offer the concluding Friday prayers today.

The Imam of the Shrine at Khanyar led the Friday prayers from the Arch of Gousia Park on the main road in view of the huge presence of the devotees. The roads leading to the Shrine at Khanyar were closed for vehicular traffic to facilitate devotees to offer hustle prayers by the authorities. The devotees had a glimpse of the holy relic of the saint which was displayed before a large number of pilgrims after the Friday prayers. Similar function was also held at Sarai Bala in Srinagar.

A large number of devotees including men and women also participated in the night long prayers “Shab Khawani” at the Shrine on Thursday during which special prayers were held for the peace, stability and prosperity of the Kashmir valley and the whole world.
