COVID-19: Two more deaths reported in J&K, toll 48

Srinagar, June 09 : Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday reported two more deaths due to novel coronavirus as a 50-year-old man from Panzath Qazigund and a 52-year-old man from Sopore died at GMC Anantnag and Srinagar’s CD hospital respectively.

With two more fatalities, the death toll due to the deadly Coronavirus has mounted to 48 in Jammu and Kashmir including 43 from Kashmir and five from Jammu division.

Principal GMC Anantnag, Dr. Showkat Jeelani told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that a 50-year-old man from Panzath, who very critical has died at GMC in this morning.

He was tested positive for COVID a few days ago and was suffering from Pneumonia besides other ailments, he said.

Officials from Srinagar said that a man who was an auto driver by profession, met with an accident on May 19.

“He was admitted to SMHS hospital and two days ago his sample returned positive for COVID and was shifted to CD hospital,” officials said, adding that he breathed his last on Tuesday morning.

So far, Srinagar district with 12 deaths due to the virus has the highest fatalities, followed by Baramulla nine, Anantnag seven, Kulgam four, three each in Shopian, Kupwara and Jammu, two in Budgam while one death each has been reported from Pulwama, Bandipora, Doda and Udhampur—
