Parliament session may be short but historic and important: PM

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said that this session of Parliament may be short, but it is historic and very valuable.

“This session of the Parliament is short but going by the time, it is huge. This is a session of historic decisions” he said ahead of the commencement of the special session of Parliament.

Modi said, “This is a short session. Their (MPs) maximum time should be devoted to the session in an environment of enthusiasm and excitement”.

There are a few moments in life which fill you with enthusiasm and faith. I look at this short session like that,” the Prime Minister added.

He informed that , “Tomorrow, on Ganesh Chaturthi, we will move to the new Parliament.

Adding that Lord Ganesha is also known as ‘Vighnaharta’, now there will be no obstacles in the development of the country”.

“To make the country a developed country by 2047 and to fulfill the dream all the decisions of the time to come will be taken in the new Parliament building” he said.

Recalling the success of Chandrayan3 mission, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said “Shiv Shakti Point (landing site of Chandrayaan-3) has become a new centre of inspiration, Tiranga Point (location on the Moon near the lunar south pole where Chandrayaan-2’s lander Vikram crashed) fills us with pride,”.

On Sunday, Union minister of parliamentary affairs Pralhad Joshi stated that the session will provide 5 sittings spread over a period of 5 days.

From Wednesday the regular business will take place in the new parliament building.

There are a total of eight Bills that will be taken up in this special session of Parliament, including 4 bills, which have already been listed.

These four bills are the Appointment of the Chief Election Commissioner, and Other Election Commissioners to be taken up for consideration and passage.

The other listed business for Lok Sabha includes ‘The Advocates (Amendment) Bill, 2023’ and ‘The Press and Registration of Periodicals Bill, 2023’, already passed by Rajya Sabha. Besides, ‘The Post Office Bill, 2023’ has also been listed in the Lok Sabha business.
