COVID-19: Jammu and Kashmir records 2 deaths in a day

Srinagar, June 01,: Jammu and Kashmir record two deaths in a day on Monday due to COVID-19. Taking the toll of COVID related deaths in the Union Territory to 30.

According to CNS, earlier in the day a 45-year-old man from Shopian district died at SKIMS Hospital Soura.

The deceased according to officials at SKIMS, was resident of Ramnagar village in Shopian district, who was admitted to in Causality Department of Hospital on 31st May at 9 P.M as a case of “CKD, ESRD with b/l Chest infiltrates”.

They said that the patient had Age-related illness and was in a state of shock, adding that after initial stabilization, the patient was shifted to Ward 2A as a suspect case of COVID-19 and his nasopharyngeal swab was taken.”

They said that his test for the COVID-19 had returned positive yesterday adding that the patient expired during midnight, after which his dead body was kept in the hospital mortuary for the night with all precautions, till his swab sample returned positive for COVID-19 at about positive at 2 p.m in the midnight.

Meanwhile another patient, 72-year-old man from Doda district in Jammu division, with Comorbidities died of COVID-19 at GMC Jammu, on Monday taking the death toll due to the COVID-19 to thirty in Jammu and Kashmir.

According to the officials at GMC Jammu, the said patient was suffering of multiple ailments, like COPD and heart disease.

With the latest fatalities on Monday, the death toll due to the virus in J&K has gone up-to thirty.

As of now Srinagar district has recorded seven deaths, which is the highest number of the fatalities, followed by Anantnag and Baramulla with five deaths each, four deaths have been recorded from Kulgam, while Budgam, Shopian and Jammu have recorded two deaths each and one death each has been recorded from Bandipora, Doda and Udhampur districts
