South Kashmir: Gunfight Breaks Out In Kokernag, Army Officer, Cop Injured: Police

Srinagar:An Army officer and a Police officer was injured as an encounter broke out between militants and government forces in Gadole area of Kokernag in South Kashmir’s Anantnag on Wednesday.

Reports reaching GNS that a joint team of Police and army launched a cordon and search operation in Kokernag.

A top police officer told GNS that during the initial exchange of fire one army officer and a police officer received bullet injury. Both have been immediately shifted to nearby hospital for treatment.

As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off a gunfight.

A senior police officer also confirmed to GNS about exchange of firing between militants and security forces.
