Anganwadi workers sensitized about their roles & responsibilities as members of SAKHI club at Ganderbal

Ganderbal: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Shyambir today addressed Anganwadi workers during a mega awareness and meeting event organized by SAKHI – Club Ganderbal, to discuss and understand their roles and responsibilities as members of SAKHI club at Mini Secretariat Ganderbal.

SAKHI (Support and Knowledge Hub for Improvement) is a community-based initiative aimed at empowering women and promoting gender equality.

The event was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner Mushtaq Simnani, District Program Officer, District Social Welfare Officer and other officials.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC highlighted the alarming increase in domestic violence against women in day-to-day life and stressed the need for clubs like SAKHI to combat these issues effectively. He encouraged the Anganwadi workers to play a pivotal role in creating awareness and providing support to women in their respective areas.

The DC said that SAKHI club members are responsible for raising awareness about women’s rights, gender equality, and safety within their communities.

The event commenced with an opening address by the organizers, emphasizing the importance of the SAKHI – Club Ganderbal in addressing the issues related to crimes against women and promoting their well-being.

They are expected to provide a support system for women who are victims of abuse or violence, connecting them with relevant authorities and resources.

ADDC while speaking on the occasion emphasized the importance of collaboration between different departments to ensure the success of SAKHI – Club Ganderbal.

The District Program Officer discussed the various programs and initiatives that would be undertaken by the SAKHI club in the near future.

DSWO talked about the support and resources that the District Social Welfare Office would provide to SAKHI club members.

Later, the event featured interactive sessions where Anganwadi workers had the opportunity to ask questions, seek clarification, and share their ideas for the betterment of the club’s objectives.

The event concluded on a positive note, with a sense of commitment and enthusiasm among the Anganwadi workers to carry out their roles effectively within the club.

The organizers expressed their gratitude to all the dignitaries and participants for their active involvement in the event, which was a significant step towards creating a safer and more inclusive society for women in Ganderbal.

The event served as a platform to inspire and mobilize the senior Anganwadi workers of Ganderbal to actively participate in the SAKHI – Club’s mission of empowering women and promoting gender equality.

Meanwhile the SAKHI -Club kits were distributed among several participants who voluntarily wanted to join the Club. It was a vital step towards making Ganderbal a safer and more inclusive place for women.
