Fortnight Celebrations of Jal Jeevan Mission in J&K

Painting competitions, debates in educational institutions, special Gram Sabhas, FTK trainings held across UT

Srinagar, Aug 3: In the ongoing fortnight celebrations of Jal Jeevan Mission more than 600 events and activities were organised at various locations across all districts of Jammu and Kashmir.

The events and activities include painting competitions, debates in educational institutions, special Gram Sabhas, FTK trainings inspection of works by officers and stake holders, rallies sensitization sessions among others.

As part of the programme, the involvement of school children is being done by way of water testing training in schools and colleges and rallies by students. The Deputy Commissioners and other senior officers have also participated in these programmes and have appealed the people to conserve the water sources by way of its judicious use and maintaining the sanitation around the sources. The communities have been sensitized about their role in taking the ownership of the water supply schemes after their completion for maintenance and operation. During the programmes the role of Pani Samities in monitoring and execution of works was also highlighted.

Pertinently, the fortnight long celebrations were launched by Chief Secretary, Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta on 01 August in presence of Principal Secretary Jal Shakti, Shaleen Kabra.
