Give details to plan your eventual safe return, J&K admin to locals stranded abroad

Srinagar, Apr 24: The J&K administration, on Friday, asked its residents, stranded in different countries following lockdown to curtail spread of Coronavirus, to provide their details on an online form in order to plan their eventual safe return.

Meanwhile, asserting that administration is receiving hundreds of calls from J&K residents stranded in different parts of the word, Deputy Commissioner Shahid Iqbal Chaudhary said rest assured the government is finding out ways to get these people back as soon as possible.

“A significant number of Indian nationals belonging to J&K are working and studying abroad. In order to plan for their eventual safe return,an information form has been designed. They can update their details on https:it.ly/jkutform by April 26, 2020,” an official spokesperson said.

Dr Chaudhary said that the administration is getting hundreds of SoS calls/texts from J&K residents still stranded in different parts of country/world. “I understand your agony, but please appreciate my limited scope within a district. Please rest assured (the) government is finding out ways to get u back ASAP. Those out of country may pl follow this form,” he tweeted.

Thousands of people from Kashmir valley remained stranded in different countries, including in Bangladesh and UAE, due to the suspension of operations of international and domestic flights last month. All domestic and international scheduled airlines operation will remain suspended till 1159 hrs of May 3, 2020.

Restrictions on movement and assembly of people to curtail the spread of Coronavirus were on Friday further intensified ahead of the commencement of the holy month of Ramzan from Saturday in Kashmir, where authorities have taken serious note of lockdown violators.

As many as 71 patients were tested positive for the infection in the first four days of this week in the valley, where no Friday prayers were offered for the fifth successive week today. The total number of infected people has swelled to 434 in the Union Territory of J&K, where five people have died while 92 have recovered so far.
