13-year-old boy drowns while taking bath in Ganderbal*

Srinagar, April 23 : A 13-year-old boy drowned while taking bath in a nallah at central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Thursday.

Reports reaching Global News Service (GNS) said that the boy identified as Zahid Ahmad Bhat (13) son of Mohammad Yousuf Bhat, a resident of Chanduna village got trapped inside the nallah (Irrigation Canal) at Sheikpora while he was taking a bath.

According to eyewitnesses, Bhat, a class 5th student couldn’t come out of the water which alarmed the fellow boys and other locals, whereupon he was rescued and removed to Primary Health Centre (PHC) Kachan in an unconscious state. However, the boy was declared brought dead on arrival by the doctors.

A police officer also confirmed the boy’s death due to the drowning.
