ADP: DC B’la reviews progress in Health, Education, Agriculture & Allied Sectors

Ensure benefits of Agriculture & Allied Sector schemes percolate to all operating farmers: Dr Sehrish to Officers

1.17 Lac FOF being covered under PMFBY in B’la with 25% of total area Covered under Paddy & Maize

Baramulla, June 27: Continuing its endeavour to saturate all the identified indicators under Aspirational District Programme (ADP),  the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar today convened a meeting of all concerned officers at DC Office Complex here to review the progress achieved and make further strategies required to achieve the desired targets under the said programme.

The meeting held threadbare discussion and reviewed the progress achieved under Health, Education, Agriculture and other sectors.

While briefing the chair with regard to the various welfare schemes meant for farmers in Agriculture sector, the concerned officers informed the chair that the recently launched Prime Minister’s Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) in Jammu and Kashmir will cover 1.17 lac farm operating families (FOF) in Baramulla district with a 25% of total area covered under Paddy and Maize.

During the meeting,  it was given out that the scheme launched in JK UT was first of its kind aimed at supporting sustainable production in Agriculture sector by way of providing financial support to farmers suffering crop loss/ damage arising out of unforeseen events.

It was informed that a total of 2300 farmers have been registered till June 2023 with the department to get the assistance under the said scheme.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Sehrish Asgar directed the officers to ensure that the benefit of all schemes related to agriculture and allied sectors should percolate to all eligible and deserving farmers across the district.

She added that increasing productivity, production, and farmer income is among the top priorities of the district administration.

During the meeting, other related sectors were also thoroughly discussed during which DC stressed upon the concerned officers to redouble their efforts so that targets fixed could be achieved within the stipulated time frame.
